Customer Review: Didn’t last
Only lasted 7 months. When I called Toshiba, they offered to fix it if we pay $70 for labor plus shipping- not acceptable. It should be covered less than a year old. It just randomly stopped working (it was never dropped or even bumped). It was slow to start from the first time we used it but otherwise worked fine until now. Very disappointed it didn’t last and will not buy again.
Customer Review: First one DOA, second one worked fine for about 6 months
This was a Christmas gift; the first one was DOA. I thought it was the remote, but it was the recorder itself that was bad. So I exchanged it. The new one worked fine for about 6 months, then it started screwing up: anything I played looked fine, but the audio was delivering at about 20% of normal volume. I had encountered that before, with certain discs; this was universal. Any disc I put into it had to be cranked up to the limit to be heard at all, and even then I missed a lot. I am currently involved in negotiating for repairs. After eight months and a DOA? Jesus, Toshiba, who are you trying to kid? IT’S JUNK!! This company can build a reliable nuclear reactor, but can’t do a DVD recorder? The heck with it-I’m switching to Sony.

Customer Review: GREAT VALUE- GREAT DVD/VCR COPING
YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING, THESE GUYS WHO CAN’T OPERATE A MACHINE AS SIMPLE AS THIS ONE SHOULD GET A GED AND TRY AGAIN. I USE MY MACHINE DAILY FOR OVERA YEAR AND IT WORKS LIKE A CHAMP!
Customer Review: MP3 Music Picture Disc
If you put mp3 music in the root directory and JPG picture in a folder of ur disc, it will automatically play music and scroll through the pictures at the same time, other things for improvement: stopping recording DVD kinda takes long around 15-30 seconds it should be an instance stop, though once press record it does it right away, because once stop it makes new tracks for next recording creating a new chapter on the disc, it include a DVDRW for transport to ur computer! I wonder if there is a firmware that update the DVD player to support my audio and video codes, the code could be install on each disc instead since there are so many codes out there, I mean it could load it to the dvd player video processors and start playing the disc!

Panasonic DMR-EZ17K DVD Recorder with ATSC Tuner Black This product is a progressive Scan DVD Recorder DMR-EZ17K with ACCUTUNE Digital Tuner, 2x LP Horizontal Resolution (500 lines), Super Multi-Format Recording&Playback and DV Input. Thanks to high-speed Quick Start, DVD-RAM discs are ready to record just one second after switching on the power. Being able to record almost immediately means you’ll never miss the scenes you want to catch. The Accutune Digital Tuner is a high performance hybrid tuner capable of receiving both digital and analog broadcasts. It uses a signal processor to effectively control noise and distortion, and its proprietary matching circuits allow it to transform and separate digital or analog signals. When digital broadcast signals drop out, generally the picture either disappears or becomes filled with block-noise, but the Accutune Digital Tuner produces a beautiful picture even under difficult reception conditions, such as when there are obstacles interfering with direct signal access. This DVD recorder offers twice the horizontal resolution (500 lines vs. the 250-line standard) of many other DVD recorders when recording in LP mode. What does this mean? It means you can fit up to four hours of recordings on one DVD (4.7GB capacity) and still enjoy the crisp, vibrant and exceptionally detailed images delivered by 500 lines of horizontal resolution.Incredibly versatile and multi-format-friendly, this DVD recorder can record to and play back just about any DVD you can throw at it. Specifically, it can record to and play back DVD-R/-RW/-RAM/+R/+RW discs, as well as DVD-Video, DVD-Audio, DVD-R (dual layer), DVD+R (dual layer), CD, CD-DA and CD-R/RW (including MP3 files). With a Panasonic DVD recorder, never think twice about what disc you need.Panasonic DVD recorders are equipped with a high-precision progressive video processor that handles 30-frame progressive scan images on NTSC discs. This lets you enjoy high-resolution progressive playback of original DVD images.
Customer Review: freezes, will not eject disk
I purchased my Panasonic EZ17 in May 2007 and it worked quite well up until one sad day in August 2008. The picture froze during playback of a DVD+R DL disk and after trying EVERYTHING (eject, reset, reboot, etc.), the unit would simply not eject the disk. The disk doesn’t even spin and the front display indicates the tray is “open” even though it isn’t. The only useful info provided by Panasonic Customer Support was the name of a local “authorized” independent repair station, which so far has been unable to solve the problem. Oh well, looks like it’s dead and ready for burial, and after only a year of infrequent usage. Before it died, I really liked the features except that the unit required an awfully long time to start-up when you press Power-On. Overall, I think it is an inferior model compared to competing brands and products. I suspect that Sony and Toshiba both make DVD recorders that work better and longer than Panasonic.
Disappointing reliability. Internal software/hardware doesn’t seem very robust.
Customer Review: Very good DVD recorder
This is my second Panasonic DVD recorder and I have not been disappointed (my first Panasonic DVD recorder is several years old and still works well). I’m sure there are things that could have been better, or additions that would help it become a top of the line recorder, but if that’s what you want, then buy a top of the line recorder. This is a very good recorder that does everything most of us need it to do. I have not used some of the options, such as being able to watch a show from the beginning while you are still recording it, but from reading other reviews, it seems to be a nice option. So if you are looking for an inexpensive recorder that works well and is fairly customer-friendly, the buy this one.

Customer Review: Panasonic is the One
I am not a Hi Def fanatic…so I had no expectations on the HD picture. I only use component cables (red blue green) not HDMI and the picture is very pretty on my Sony Bravia. I cant imagine a TV image can look much better. So I am pleased with this aspect.

Customer Review: Sony RDR-VX535 DVD Recorder & VCR Combo
Have had my unit for a few weeks not and it has exceeded all of my expectations. I’m a Sony fan anyway, and this is just more affirmation for me. This was the only such combo player I could find at an affordable price - apparently they aren’t offered by most other companies.
Customer Review: Great if you don’t want to back up protected media
Picked up the unit, hooked it up in <3 minutes. Simple dub button right on the middle of the unit. Unit DOES NOT let you copy "protected material" Does decent job of "upscaling". HDMI cable included is a device connector NOT HDMI to RGB.

Customer Review: Great Product!!
I bought this as a scratch and dent. It was fairly inexpensive, but I was worried it wouldn’t work with the new digital changes coming up. Some feedback was that the instructions to install were difficult. Mine did not come with instructions, so I downloaded them off the web. I’m am totally technically challenged, but I CAN READ!! I had it hooked up in about 10 minutes (back and forth to the computer) We’ve had no problems with it, and if it doesn’t work in 2009, OH, WELL!!!
Customer Review: Works good but a little slow
I like this so far. I have used it to record VHS to DVDs and it works good. My only complaint is that it is a little slow, and takes some practice to figure it all out. Of course it could be me. I did call tech support with some questions and they were very polite and helpful.

Customer Review: Delay from press remote to unit responds??
Was hoping this to be the best of DVD recorders but forget it because remote buttons are so small some require a pen to hit them & the unit doesn’t respond especially during title list and sent unit back from frustration so maybe you won’t have this trouble but Sony usually produce higher quality or maybe somebody else made this one & they put there name on it - I bought from Crutchfield and great customer service to return unit!!
