According to the Wikipedia write-up on portable DVD players (PDPs), the standard definition PDPs is 480×234. This makes the FX820’s 800×480 resolution “high-def” by PDP standard. Indeed, that’s 3.4 times as much resolution and you can definitely tell the difference on every DVD you play.

Customer Review: Good unit, Good price
I got my DVD player last week. I got the blue one as it was less expensive by about $20 than the black, red or pink units. The unit is small, has an excellant picture and is fairly lightweight. However, the little speakers are very difficult to hear from. I am using an inexpensive pair of clip-on the ear headphones, and the sound is pretty good. I would recommend this unit to anyone that wants a little quality unit for a very good price

Customer Review: Awesome Product for the Price!
This player may be a little more expensive than the cheapest ones out there, but far better quality. The screen is bright with an unlimited viewing angle and the hinge is solid. I was thinking the hinge would be weak and flimsy since it was so small, but its not. I love how the screen rotates all the way around so you can hold it in your hands. The speakers are louder than you would expect and provide plenty of volume - even on the road with all of the road noise! The battery also lives up to its claim. The only thing that would make this better would be the inclusion of a card reader or USB slot so that it can be used to view pictures and movies right from the card or flash drive. Great product, but that is what I expect from Sony!
