Customer Review: Poor video quality
I own a DMR-ES25 Panasonic recorder and wanted a player with DVD-RAM capabilities. However when I hooked this up to my 1080p LCD TV through HDMI, I noticed that the resulting picture was noisy and much worse than the 1080i upconversion coming from my old Panasonic’s HDMI output. There was practically no noticeable difference between the 480p and 1080p outputs when watching DVDs. It was as if there was no upconversion. I even experienced occasional video and audio loss. BTW I was using the same HDMI cable to compare my DVD recorder and this unit, so I don’t think that was the issue here. The menu screen had superfluous white dots in random places.

If its like my other 4 Toshiba’s it will be around here longer than I want to look at it, because they never break down.

DVD player arrived in just a few days in excellent condition. Player is very sturdy, easy to operate with a very good picture. The sound is a little low, but this could have been the dvd.

Item came quickly. Packaged well and has all components. Does have a lot of scratches on the cover but the inside looks great. The picture is great but as other people have reviewed on amazon about this item, it is loud when you turn it on and while the dvd gets ready to play and while it’s turning off.

In August 2007, our old DVD/VCR combo quit about the same time I bought an HDTV. I looked into upconverting players and discovered this one. The first player would not work on the HDMI cable (deduct one star). The regular VHS output and component outputs worked fine. I called Amazon who immediately shipped another player. This player has worked great ever since then.

Customer Review: Nice Design, Solid and Quality DVD Player
I bought a Panasonic DVD-LS80 8.5″ Portable DVD Player for my sister and didn’t like it as much as this Toshiba SD-P91S 9-Inch Portable DVD Player. The size is bigger most of other portable player but this has a bigger screen, easier to watch from a distance. I liked the design, looked very nice and the quality was good, worth my money! Glad I bought it!

There is nothing wrong with this dvd player; it delivers a good picture. However, I did not notice much of a difference in picture quality between this new player and my old standard dvd player that it replaced.
