“U99″ Error Problem.Piece of junk, one can not do anything with this machine in presence of that error code.The Machine has not been even used for any rcording-brand new and I was using Panasonic Brand DVD-Ram.
Customer Review: How smart do I need to be?
Although I have called Panasonic and gotten assistance, after 4 weeks I am still unable to get the on-screen TV Guide to work. I am technology-saavy, and even had a friend help me with the unit. No luck. Programming recording without the TV Guide is fine, but that defeats the purpose of buying this machine.

Customer Review: GREAT HD DVD RECORDER !
This RCA HD DVD RECORDER works great I have had it for 2 years and it has not let me down. I’m only selling it because I already have 2 other recorders and don’t use it that often. The only thing about it is that it does not have one touch record. When you hit record, a screen comes up asking you for record length, and whether you are recording to the HD, or straight to DVD. After you tell it what it needs to know, you’re off and recording. This can be slightly annoying if you’re recording something on an instant. But if you miss the beginning of a show because you were changing the settings, it does have a save buffer that acts as a timeslip. This means when the buffer is on, it will record the part that you missed before you started recording(up to 2 hrs back). If all this sounds slightly complicated it’s really not, it’s a very easy recorder to use. And the unit that I’m selling has an adjusted HD upgraded to 120 GB instead the regular 80 GB. I got my RCA 8335 as a warranty replacement and not at Amazon.I must say my unit has performed well enough.I’ve recorded hundreds of programs with good results.Yes,the unit has frozen on me a few times but I just go through the ritual of -unplug and plug again and it goes back on track.I am sorry all these other people got bum units.

Had mine just over 6 months. Ate a VHS tape (still can’t get it out) and DVD operation is crappy. Clock will not stay set so timer recording is not reliable. What really irritates me is that if you try to go to RCA website for service info, it automatically switches to Audiovox site, and Audiovox will send you a message that they do not service this model
