Customer Review: The worst!
This was the worst electronic purchase I have ever made. Only lasted a few months for recording then just played dvds now it does nothing but collect dust!
Customer Review: good recordings, but a lazy DVD player/recorder
Sure it’s a DVD recorder, and yes it can transfer your old time VHS classics. But it’s lazy. what I mean by that is that the player works when it wants to, he accepts only certain types of blanks, you can only use DVD+R all other’s will not function, if you want to watch a movie it takes an eternity for it to load. Plus it has the worst fast forwarding feature I have ever seen: instead of fast forwarding the picture it lags even more. The player brings 3 DVD+RW blanks that records but can’t be used in another player. The finalizing process to make your DVD recordings compatible with other players takes an eternity as well. Sometimes while finalizing it erases everything; basically everything you recorded is gone. Sure it works, it records, and it has good picture quality. But it sucks and it’s slow and lazy. Simply put.

Customer Review: Best TiVo Available
It’s obvious that a lot of the folks that have purchased these units are not too familiar with electronic products. These are the best Tivos ever produced since they allow you to archive your favorite videos from the hard drive seemlessly to DVD as well as convert your movies to DVD and then edit both on a PC. An added bonus is the free TIVO basic service. Why would you ever want to edit video on the player itself with all the fine editing tools on the PC? People complaining about the video quality just don’t know what they are talking about. The quality problem was fixed a few years ago after a class action law suit and is better than any other DVR with the exception of the newer High Def units but they don’t allow you to record directly from the hard drive to an included DVD. I use the component output directly into my 40 in LCD and the video looks great. You can also pop the DVD into a $50 upconverting DVD player and get even better quality without the horrendous wait time of an HD or Blu Ray player.
Customer Review: All was fine until…
I bought this unit in August 2004, and had been using it with both TiVo Basic and TiVo Plus, until it conked out in February 2006. Eighteen months is not an acceptable product life for any video component in my book, and now I have a friend trying to hack a repair by swapping out what is apparently a dead HDD with a $40 Seagate 160GB HDD. If he succeeds, the unit will go to 160 hours of available recording time. That will make up for the downtime.

Customer Review: Good unit with all the tuners
I bought this from TigerDirect through Amazon with an amazing next day delivery with ground shipping. This unit has all the tuners built in - even a QAM tuner! It sets up easily out of the box and records very well. My only complaint is entering titles for recordings. It is cumbersome in that there is no storage for common titles so each title has to be entered from the numeric keypad. Overall a solid piece of equipment that I recommend.
Customer Review: good dvd recorder
Seems to be a good dvd recorder at a resonable price. I had some trouble setting it up at first, but by going over the manual several times I got it working right. The only thing is I wish you could watch one program and record another, I don’t think you can with this one.I’m satisfied with the purchase. Paul

Samsung DVD-R130 DVD Recorder Samsung’s DVD-R130 DVD Recorder is perfect for sharing your favorite video more easily. SImply connect it to your home entertainment center and startwriting your favorite shows, movies and homemade digital video onto a disc. It’s quuck and easy! NOTE - Preliminary specs; subject to change
Customer Review: Worked fine for first few months, then started failing…
First — to those people who can’t play their recorded DVDs in other players, you have to Finalize the DVD first, read the manual. This is not a Samsung problem - it is true of most DVD & CD recorders (even for those in a PC).

Customer Review: Right for the price
Don’t expect a Corvette when you’re paying a Kia price. I bought one of these dvd recorders five years ago and it worked just fine for all those years. Now that it died, I went right out and looked for the exact same brand. For 68 bucks, if I can get another five years out of this one, I’m a happy camper.
Customer Review: Wouldn’t buy it again.
I’m surprised that this model is still being sold. The company no longer does business in the USA. I have this model and the DVD section is extremely unreliable.
The pros - the picture quality is not bad. The analog tuner is pretty good, too and it changes channels quite fast. I use it mainly for its tuner; works great that way. Video and stereo out to a monitor with no tuner. And it has a volume control. It plays PAL DVDs and there is a hack to make it Region 0.
The cons - it always defaults to DVD play mode (annoying since I use it for a tuner). Often, it hangs when going to a new chapter. With selected DVDs, it will repeatedly hang on a particular scene. Like many minor brands, the remote has small buttons and is difficult to use in a darkened room. I have found no universal remote that has its code set (you need a “learning remote”). The corporate web site is down and the latest firmware updates are extremely difficult to obtain. Other thoughts - there are two different “sub” models. The MU plays DIVX and the ZU does not. Unfortunately, I own the ZU.
Summary - I wish I never bought it but it functions well enough given the reasons stated above.
