Customer Review: Gread DVD recorder
This DVD Recorder worked great right out of the box with 16x DVD-Rs and 16x DVD-RWs. Good quality video usually gets 4 hours to a disc. I cycle 3 DVD RWs and can record shows and TV movies for watching later. TV tuner is great.
Customer Review: This is a great vcr replacement at a fantastic price. 3 stars!
Records to all brands (and speeds) of blank dvd-r or dvd-rw discs that I have tried so far. Playback picture quality is good when recorded at 2 or 4 hour speeds. This machine doesn’t have a dv input for best recording from a mini-dv camcorder but the camera can be connected using the other inputs and then edited (delete scenes, make titles) in VR mode. But, if I needed to edit and copy home movies, I would just do that on the computer. I use this machine as a vcr replacement to record from the built-in tv tuner. It handles this job just fine.

Customer Review: nice features but ultimately unreliable
When it works, it’s great, but operation (esp. with TV Guide feed) is extremely unstable. Will tend to reset, hang, lose TV Guide channel/program information, “forget” to record programmed shows, forget to stop at the end of a recorded program, and probably a few other things that I forget because they didn’t quite happen frequently enough.

Buy Cheap RCA DRC8320N DVD Recorder RCA DRC8320N DVD Recorder RCA DRC8320N DVD/VCR Recorder DVD and VCR combo recorder; DV input with camcorder control; 1-touch copy from VHS to disc; Compatible with DVD+R/RW and DVD-R/RW;TV guardian; Includes remote DVD/VCR Recorder
Customer Review: The worst menu system I’ve ever seen in an electronic device
This was a gift, and I was happy to receive it because of the quality of the DVD’s produced — provided a high quality VHS source tape, recorded with a high quality camera, were used. But the on-screen menus are absolutely incomprehensible and even the most simple of actions are met with an inexplicable, baffling, totally maddening “stop sign” icon with no explanation at all of what’s wrong. The most simple copy operations will get the “stop sign” several times in a row even when following the manual religiously and using media that works perfectly in another recorder. Conclusion — good quality if you can ever get it to work, and that’s a tall order.
Customer Review: Stay away from this unit … and RCA in general!
When my RCA DRC8320N froze (tape & disk stuck) I was just a few days under my 1 year warranty so I was able to send it to Alco Electronics as instructed only to get it back with the tape still stuck and without the remote. I called, again, and was told they had only noted that the DVD was stuck (even though I told them AND stated in the letter sent with the player that both a tape & disc were stuck … it was pretty evident!) so I had to send it back again. I just got it back and it’s not my player nor even the same model. They sent a DCR8335 (which is a cheaper model from what I can tell). Just called the call center again … “Donald” said their system is down so he will have to call me back. Honest to God I’m going to scream!!!

Customer Review: A pretty good little DVD Recorder
I’ve had this unit about a year and a half and it has filled my simple needs quite well - recording films not now or ever likely to be on DVD to the hard disk via timers - since the films I want to see often come on in the dead of night or while I’m at work - and copying those films to DVD if I decide they are good enough to keep. You can even edit out commercials if necessary via the “Hide Chapter” option. I have noted a few problems, but these may be present on other DVRs:
1. Anything running longer than about 80 minutes or so records in “real time”.
2. If you are around the border of that time - 80 minutes - the recorder will get confused and chop the film off before it is finished recording. Solution: leave some buffer at the end if you are around that limit.
3. DVD-Rs often have artifacts in them. I did not have this problem when I graduated to DVD+Rs as recording media.
4. One day I decided to record a big block of films in one 10 hour block. When I came home, the DVR had arbitrarily divided the recordings into two blocks, one that lasted about six hours and one about four. When I tried “chopping up” the six hour block of films into individual movies for recording purposes, the DVR got “lost” and the entire six hour block of movies was lost to me.

Customer Review: A nice machine!
I’ve had mine for a couple years now & I’m still very pleased with it! I’ve backed up alot of VHS tapes with this onto DVD, & it has very good video noise reduction!
Customer Review: BEWARE: DVDs are non-standard & incompatible
I am bitterly disappointed with the Philips DVDR-3400 recorder, and suppose that all of its line has the same problems.
