Customer Review: Panasonic is the One
I am not a Hi Def fanatic…so I had no expectations on the HD picture. I only use component cables (red blue green) not HDMI and the picture is very pretty on my Sony Bravia. I cant imagine a TV image can look much better. So I am pleased with this aspect.

Customer Review: Sony RDR-VX535 DVD Recorder & VCR Combo
Have had my unit for a few weeks not and it has exceeded all of my expectations. I’m a Sony fan anyway, and this is just more affirmation for me. This was the only such combo player I could find at an affordable price - apparently they aren’t offered by most other companies.
Customer Review: Great if you don’t want to back up protected media
Picked up the unit, hooked it up in <3 minutes. Simple dub button right on the middle of the unit. Unit DOES NOT let you copy "protected material" Does decent job of "upscaling". HDMI cable included is a device connector NOT HDMI to RGB.

Customer Review: Great Product!!
I bought this as a scratch and dent. It was fairly inexpensive, but I was worried it wouldn’t work with the new digital changes coming up. Some feedback was that the instructions to install were difficult. Mine did not come with instructions, so I downloaded them off the web. I’m am totally technically challenged, but I CAN READ!! I had it hooked up in about 10 minutes (back and forth to the computer) We’ve had no problems with it, and if it doesn’t work in 2009, OH, WELL!!!
Customer Review: Works good but a little slow
I like this so far. I have used it to record VHS to DVDs and it works good. My only complaint is that it is a little slow, and takes some practice to figure it all out. Of course it could be me. I did call tech support with some questions and they were very polite and helpful.

Customer Review: Delay from press remote to unit responds??
Was hoping this to be the best of DVD recorders but forget it because remote buttons are so small some require a pen to hit them & the unit doesn’t respond especially during title list and sent unit back from frustration so maybe you won’t have this trouble but Sony usually produce higher quality or maybe somebody else made this one & they put there name on it - I bought from Crutchfield and great customer service to return unit!!

Customer Review: Defect or Lemon??
I bought this in June thinking it would be perfect for recording and playback. I struck out on both counts. The biggest glitch is when ANY pre-recorded (store bought) DVD gets to the point of “dual layer” transition-the player freezes and wont move. Now, a lot of DVD players pause/freeze momentarily at this point, but this thing just sticks. Im sending it back for repairs. Stay tuned.
The recorded discs seem to play only on some DVD players-which is par for the course with home-made DVDs. BUYER BEWARE!

Samsung DVD-VR357 Tunerless DVD Recorder and VCR Combo HDMI / Easy Record / Component Video / Composite
Customer Review: I had to return the product
It may be a good product, I’ll never know. When we opened the box, there was no user manual. Now, I know I can download and print it out, but it was 88 pages of printing. When I phoned Samsung to ask them to send us a manual, the lady said it’s Samsung’s policy not to send out manuals. So, we were left with either buying a manual or returning the recorder, so we returned the recorder to the store. Don’t think we will be buying a Samsung product again.
Customer Review: S-L-O-W and Unreliable
I’ve never cursed more than when I drive in New York City traffic, but using this machine is very much a close runner up in my list of things-that-most-annoy-me. Holy sweet mother of Jesus! This machine takes 3 whole minutes just stop a recording, and write the table information to disc. If you are in the middle of recording a live show and had to switch discs, good luck - you’re not going to make it. Commercial time is usually 3 to 3.5 minutes. After agonizing over how slow it’s taking to stop the first disc, you’ll have to wait for the machine to “initialize” the new disc (not long in this case, just a few seconds), wait for it to then “load” the newly initialized disc before continuing with your record process. The whole process can take 5 minutes! Regardless of what you are recording, if you’re like me, you wouldn’t want to wait 5 minutes for this thing to do something other machines do in mere seconds. These minutes add up over time. This is just one of the machines that I currently have, and I’ve had plenty over the years. But this one is by far the slowest.
