Sony DVP-NS57P/B Progressive Scan DVD Player, Black The DVP-NS57P/B DVD player features Precision Cinema Progressive technology, providing sharper images for a better viewing experience. Unlike other DVD players that detect image changes at the Scan line level-Sony’s Precision Cinema Progressive (PCP) system detects them at the Pixel level. This results in images closer to the original source data, because separate, optimized algorithms are used to handle the differing Pixel behavior. Separate algorithms are also used to process the moving and still parts of an image, resulting in sharp backgrounds with moving objects that are free from motion artifacts. Sony’s Precision Drive III mechanism is also included, which helps maximize the performance of DVD collections by reading data even on some physically “warped” discs. Other benefits include fast/slow playback with sound, and custom parental control.
Customer Review: good dvd player
I got this one after our old one bit the dust !(I never liked it). I did a lot of research for specific functions, this one fits the bill the most. Easy buttons, fast forward without the chance of advancing the screen, more than one fast forward speed, subtitle button, my son can operate it without help from me. So far, this is one of the dvd players I ever owned.

Works fine and well worth the price. Just wish it were a bit smaller in length. It’s slim yet longer than most standard DVD players

Customer Review: Some have issues
For the most part this is a great dvd IF you get one that works. I had two that were play about 90% of the dvd and then lose the picture. Finally gave up and switched to a different player. Had hoped that since this was not a extreme low end player, that this wouldn’t happen. Load times for dvd was long. When the dvd played, picture quality was great, upscaling was almost as good as bluray. Menu system is fairly intuitive.

Customer Review: usb capability is poor
I got this on a suggestion for a DVD player that supports many formats and includes USB support to play my digital media. I found that the usb support is slow crap and it stutters on active scenes. The same avi file recorded on a DVD would play fine but je je je jerk from the usb drive. Pretty much regret the purchase.

Coby DVD-224 Compact DVD Player Forget thinking outside the box–now you can stop worrying about the box altogether. Coby’s DVD-224 is about the size of a hardcover book, so whether you’re ferrying the player between the kitchen and the bedroom or hooking it up for periodic use by the kids, the DVD-224’s small size permits enjoyment of DVD programs and music CDs in just about any room you want. While not portable in the traditional sense–the unit has no screen and requires AC power–the DVD-224 is much easier to move around, set-up, and use than a traditional component DVD player.
